Fridays for Future / Local Warming
The effect of local warming through impactful imagery.
Founded by renowned activist Greta Thunberg, Fridays for Future is a global climate change movement uniting people in over 100 countries. With a focus on preserving Earth for its inhabitants now and in the future, much of Fridays for Future’s efforts have centered around building awareness of key issues impacting this mission.
To help spark a reappraisal of what global warming does to our immediate future, we decided to show that global warming wasn’t just happening at a global scale, outside of our reach on the other side of the planet, but rather that it has immediate and devastating effects on our local surroundings as well. With a goal to increase awareness of this, we took the look of vintage iconic tourism posters (from California, Venice, Queensland and Zermatt) and recreated them with the current effects of global warming (fire, flooding, disappearance of biodiversity). This reflection of our immediate present and future was a jarring take on what we have to look forward to if we don’t intervene in time to save the parts of our community we’ve always loved and been a part of.
